National School Backpack Awareness Day

Research and Information for OT Practitioners and Parents

The occupational therapy community—individuals, organizations, and schools of occupational therapy—is encouraged to organize and promote local "weigh-ins" or similar educational events around National School Backpack Day.

AOTA has developed a Web-based Community Toolkit to provide the information and materials needed to hold events and reach the media.

Last year more than 500 occupational therapy practitioners held events, reaching over 100,000 children. This year we plan on doubling those numbers! With AOTA's help, you can make that happen. If you are an OT practitioner, start now by completing the Intent to Hold an Event form. There's no obligation, but we'd like to know who you are.
