National School Backpack Awareness Day 2007

Event Art

We have created art based on the School Backpack Awareness Day "Lighten Up!" lightning bug that you can use to enhance your event. Follow the instructions below for accessing and using the artwork.

Campaign Identity

Below are links to JPG files of Lumina, the lightning bug, and our Lighten Up! Pack It Light, Wear It Right slogan. Right click and hold on the art to download it to your hard drive. The art can be enlarged and used for event decoration or imported into word processing software to customize materials for your event. If you are not familiar with hLuminaow to manipulate this type of electronic file, please have a knowledgeable friend or colleague help you. Unfortunately, AOTA does not have tech support available for this.  These are large files; if you dialup, they may take a minute to download.

Stickers

A file has been set up to match Avery #5979 neon-color labels. These labels can be purchased at any office supply store such as Staples or Office Depot (although the labels say "for laser printers," they work with home inkjet printers, too).

  1. Download the Microsoft Word file which matches your computer system (PC or Mac) into your hard. It is already set-up for printing.
  2. Follow the package instructions for inserting label sheets in your printer.
  3. Print the black and white pictures onto the neon labels to make colorful "Lighten Up!" lightning bug stickers to give to the students who "weigh-in" at your Backpack Awareness Day event!

Coloring Art

This is a black and white page for coloring that illustrates the proper and improper use of backpacks (in a fun, "buggy" kind of way--you'll see!). These make wonderful handouts for younger children who "weigh-in" at your event!

  1. Download the pdf file into your hard drive or open the file here and print.
  2. Print out copies for handouts at your event, or print one to photocopy. The file prints onto standard 8 1/2" x 11" paper. You may want to print or photocopy onto heavier paper than you normally would use so that the paper won't tear while children are coloring.Click here to open the "coloring" file.*
