The Fund To Promote Awareness of Occupational Therapy is a charitable and educational organization that has been recognized as exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501 (c)(3), and as a public charity under Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Its principal purpose is to support education related to the use and value of occupational therapy with respect to the public's health, wellness, productivity and quality of life. As the "awareness arm" of The American Occupational Therapy Association, The Fund is closely tied to AOTA through its bylaws and articles of incorporation. The Fund Board of Directors is comprised of the AOTA officers, the AOTA Executive Director (ex-officio) and The Fund's Executive Director (ex-officio). Each director elected by the AOTA membership holds office coterminous with the office held within AOTA.
